Carrd Popups – How to Set Up a Popup for Carrd Using Popupsmart?

Hey everyone! :woman_raising_hand:
I recently built a landing page for my email course using Carrd, and now I’m looking to add a popup to collect subscribers. I’m not super tech-savvy, so I’m hoping to avoid anything that involves too much coding.

I came across Popupsmart and was wondering—has anyone here used it with Carrd? How easy is the setup, and will it work on Carrd’s free plan?

Hi Michelle! So glad you’re exploring popups with Popupsmart—and yes, it works great with Carrd. You don’t need to touch a line of code beyond copy-pasting the embed snippet. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: Here’s a step-by-step walkthrough you can follow:

Follow these steps to add a popup to your Carrd website with Popupsmart:

1. Register to Popupsmart and sign in to your account.

2. Click on the “Embed Code” to get your Popupsmart embed code.

3. A modal will show up and provide you with your Popupsmart embed code. Copy this embed code to the clipboard.

4. Go to your Carrd dashboard and click on the “Edit this site” icon.

5. Click on the “+” sign that says “Add an element” and select the “</>Embed.”

7. Then, select the “Hidden” and “Body End” from the “Style” section. Paste your embed code into the “Code” part and click the “Done” button.

8. Click on the “Publish this site” button on the top right and click on the “Publish Changes” on the left bottom of your dashboard when you finish adding your embed code.

9. Now go back to your Popupsmart dashboard and click the “Websites” part from your profile.

10. Click on “New website” to add your Carrd website.

11. Enter your Carrd domain into the “Add a new website” modal.

:bell:If you see your website unverified, click the “Unverified” button, and from the opening modal, click “Verify website,” then return to your dashboard and click “Refresh.”

For further details about the verification of your website, see How to Verify Your Website.

12. Go to the dashboard and click the “New Campaign” button to build your conversion-ready popup campaign.

13. You can create your campaign and adjust it as much as you like. Then, click the “Publish” button on the left-hand panel when done.

14. Your Carrd popup is ready now! You will see the successful campaign modal once your campaign is published.

This is :fire: Michelle, I actually did the same thing for my eCommerce waitlist page. I love how Popupsmart lets you control when and who sees the popup—especially helpful for mobile optimization and exit-intent.

Just a heads-up: I use Zapier with it to automatically send form signups to Google Sheets and MailerLite. Seamless.

Thanks for this! I’ve got a Carrd site for my Pilates business, and I was wondering how to offer a discount popup to new visitors.

Does Popupsmart work well on mobile? A lot of my visitors come from Instagram on their phones :mobile_phone:

Hey Irem :waving_hand:
Absolutely—it’s 100% mobile-responsive, and even better, you can create mobile-specific campaigns. You can set rules like:

  • Show only on mobile
  • Trigger on scroll or exit intent
  • Customize designs for smaller screens

Just chiming in—been using Popupsmart on a Carrd site for a branding campaign. Love how quick it is to set up without having to mess with JavaScript or hire a dev. :man_mechanic:

Also, the targeting rules are :fire:
You can show different popups based on:

  • Traffic source (e.g., Facebook or Instagram)
  • Geo location
  • Session count
  • Even visitor behavior like time on page

Way more advanced than Carrd’s built-in options (well, if they had any :joy:).

Okay, I’m sold. :flexed_biceps: Just one last question—can I run multiple popups on the same Carrd site, like one for discount and another for email capture?

Yes, RockTheScale4! You can run multiple popup campaigns with different rules and placements.

Unlike native Carrd (which doesn’t support any popup system), Popupsmart lets you control visibility with precision. So, for example:

  • Show an email capture popup on the homepage
  • Trigger a coupon popup when a user scrolls 60% on the pricing section
  • Launch a teaser popup for new visitors only

Plus, everything is trackable with built-in analytics + A/B testing :rocket:

Y’all convinced me :joy: Setting mine up today for my Carrd writing portfolio. I want to run a small survey popup—does Popupsmart have that?

Hey theo999! Yes, you can create multi-step popups and even collect responses like mini-surveys. Try using the form elements in the builder. You can:

  • Ask multiple questions
  • Set conditional logic
  • Connect to Google Sheets or any CRM via Zapier or Webhooks
